Baby Boomers Are You Wearing a Misshapen Face?

Weddings are a great place to people watch.  The attendees come in all sizes and shapes and that includes their faces.

There are faces that wear a double chin.  Uncle Harry, father of the groom, the owner of the double chin may or may not be morbidly obese but he is sporting at least an extra twenty pounds and that attributes to his portly appearance.

Hooded eyes on Aunt Hilda are easy to spot as eyeliner, mascara and shadow look somewhat strange on her droopy eyes; raising and wrinkling the brows are a typical movement for one whose eyesight is compromised when the eye brows and lids drop and those horizontal forehead lines have never been deeper.

Sagging cheeks drag down the skin as deep crevices are developed between the nose and mouth.  The fold is a dead giveaway that the zygomaticus muscles are in need of repositioning.

Sometimes folds are noticed in the lower mouth, too, as jowls and pouches form along the jaw line.  There is no disguising this look especially when it is coupled with a double chin.

Add wrinkles to the sags and droopiness.  Wrinkles and lines can develop across the forehead, the cheeks, the lower mouth and the neck seemingly overnight.  Oh sure, some of it is attributable sun damage early on but most wrinkles are a result of elongating muscles pooling into other muscles affecting where the end of the muscle attaches to the skin.  This downward motion, pooling, can create deep lines and wrinkles.

A misshapen face develops slowly over time.  When you’re in your 20s, 30s and 40s, your confidence level is high.  You look in the mirror with assurance that your appearance is ideal but when that 50th or 60th birthday rolls around, you realize that your youthful demeanor is fleeing. 

Do words like ‘matronly’, ‘aging’, ‘dated’ and ‘old’ describe your face and your body?

Facial Exercise Defies Age Discrimination

Aging faces are everywhere and if you want to keep your job, maintain a positive earning power and remain confident in your appearance you might want to immediately begin a facial exercise regime.

It is the truth: Age discrimination is a fact of life in the corporate world.

The once handsome and debonair faces are drooping and that double chin is winning. The once beautiful face is amassing jowls and the resemblance to mother is developing.

This can be the poison pill in the corporate world because old faces can equate to old ideas. For more than twenty years psychologists and HR personnel studies demonstrate that appearance has a great deal to do with making more money and maintaining the status quo.

How to Lose Fat in the Face

Burning fat off from just one part of the body is simply not possible. Similarly, when you gain weight, it does not accumulate in just one part of the body. When you gain weight, you’ll notice that your cheeks get fatter, your faces becomes more round, and you might get that slight extra roll underneath your chin. And the only way to get rid of any unwanted fat on your face is through healthy diet and exercise.

In order to lose weight, you will need to eat less calories than you expend. And that probably entails eating a lesser amount of carbohydrates and fats than you are used to. But don’t worry, it’s really not that difficult to eat a healthy diet consistently and not feel hungry all the time.

You can determine how many calories you expend every day with your age and height. There are simple charts you can use that will give you the answer. Eating less than that amount will force your body to shed the pounds. Your body needs to burn energy to survive, and if you’re not going to give it enough food, it’s going to have to get it from somewhere. Why not let it use the fat stores on your face!

A general diet composition should consist of approximately 50% carbohydrates, 30% protein (lean meat, chicken, fish) and 20% from healthy unsaturated fats (flax seed oil, avocado, fish oil).

Along with a healthy diet, you can speed up the process of burning fat with exercise. It is certainly possible to lose weight through diet alone, but combining exercise with a healthy diet will vastly increase the rate at which you lose weight, and you’ll look and feel much healthier to boot!

Below are some exercises that should help you to lose fat from your face by strengthening your facial muscles. You can use a mirror to make sure you are performing them properly.

The Areas Around Your Eyes

Close your eyes and relax. Look up and then down as far as you can. Then repeat that 10 times. Next, keeping your eyes close, stretch your eyebrows up as far as you can, hold it, and count to 5. Then relax, and repeat the eyebrow stretch 5 times. Now, open your eyes, look up, and then look down (your head should remain fixed). Do that 10 times, then do the same thing by looking left and right 10 times.

The Frown

Make a frown, and try to squeeze your eyebrows down over your eyes. Next, raise your eyebrows up as far as you can with your eyes open as wide as possible. Do that 5 times. Then, lie down on your back on your bed, and hang your head off the edge. Lift your eyebrows as high as you can with your eyes open as wide as possible again. Relax, and then repeat that 10 times. Then, sit up and crunch your eyebrows down over your eyes, squeeze your nose up while trying to flare your nostrils and hold it for 10 seconds. Relax, and then repeat it 5 times!.

Stick Out Your Tongue

Stick the tip of your tongue out and suck in your cheeks. Maintain that expression for a few seconds and then relax. Next, push your lower lip on top of your upper lip and try to touch your nose (with your lower lip). While you smile as wide as possible, try and touch the tip of your nose with your tongue.

These exercises may seem silly, but they are strenuously working your face muscles. And working any muscles will burn calories and fat. Although losing weight takes time to notice results, if you stick to a plan you will achieve the look you want.
